Refugees International is seeking a talented individual to join their program team as the Middle East Program Intern. The intern will work closely with our Senior Advocate for the Middle East to conduct research on displacement crises in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Syria, Lebanon, oPt, Iraq and Yemen. The intern will support the Senior Advocate with her research (desk research and interviews), report drafting, and media tracking. Responsibilities also include attending meetings and conferences, taking minutes, follow-up with partners, and providing additional front office support.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Be enrolled in a graduate degree program in international relations, Middle Eastern studies or a related field.
- Proficiency in Arabic is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of or interest in the recent history of the Middle East, its humanitarian architecture, and displacement trends in the region.
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Be passionate about Refugees International’s work and mission.
We are looking for a commitment of at least 15 hours per week, Monday – Friday from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a minimum time commitment of three months starting approximately mid-September. The internship will take place virtually. Please note that this position is unpaid, but we can help facilitate academic credit.
