Scholastic’s Data & Analytics practice plays a pivotal role in the incubation of high value strategic initiatives and the development of data driven solutions for the Scholastic enterprise.
As an Associate Data Analyst on either the Strategic Data Projects or Digital Projects teams, you will be working on critical projects to support our business by outlining requirements, establishing problem statements, and transforming relevant data to conduct analysis. We’re looking for someone who is highly analytical, passionate about hypothesis-driven problem-solving, and excellent at getting things done. These roles require strong communication skills, the ability to manage project scope and deadlines, and a commitment to delivering quality work. Analysts should recognize that a collaborative mindset and a “can do” attitude is key in order to learn, contribute and grow at Scholastic.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teams
- Digital Projects: As part of the Digital Projects team you will provide marketing intelligence and offer strategic recommendations to support business decisions on website user behavior and digital marketing initiatives, using tools like Adobe Analytics, A/B testing, MouseFlow and Competitive Intelligence. Additionally you will work closely with engineering teams on site builds/re-launches to ensure proper measurement tools are in place.
- Preferred (but not required) Skills and Qualifications
- Understanding of performance metrics, marketing strategy, marketing campaigns, website user behavior
- Familiarity with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics (a.k.a. Omniture)
- Strategic Data Projects: As part of the Strategic Data Projects team you will develop domain expertise for one of our major businesses across all functions, from sales and marketing, to operations and technology. This role will involve a variety of strategy consulting with a strong data driven spin and the satisfaction of pushing your ideas through to implementation.
- Preferred (but not required) Skills and Qualifications
- Understanding of or prior experience with core business functions e.g. Marketing, Finance, Sales, Operations
- Experience with Salesforce, Qualtrics, AWS (Redshift, S3, SageMaker)

- What Skills Do We Need?
- Graduation date in Fall/Winter of 2021 or Spring/Summer of 2022
- Undergraduate/Graduate degree in business, economics, finance, computer science, math, statistics, engineering or other quantitative disciplines
- What Skills Are Nice to Have?
- SQL skills for purposes of data extraction, transformation, cleaning and analysis
- Strong Excel (esp. Power Query), R or Python skills in analysis, statistics and charting
- Ability to translate technical requirements to engineering teams, product owners and non-technical business partners
- Experience in BI and data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
- Exceptional problem-solving ability, logical reasoning, creative thinking and quantitative aptitude
- Strong analytical capabilities, with comfort using Excel and PowerPoint. Passion for data-driven decision making.
