The Science/Policy Associate, supervised by the Director of Conservation Programs, advances constituent awareness and understanding of TBF’s science-based conservation initiatives, research projects and challenges while augmenting fishery management strategies. The incumbent drives traffic to TBF’s website to inform, its social media platforms to inform and engage new members in TBF events and activities.
- Prepares and disseminates, as appropriate, informative content ranging from brief to in-depth explanations of research projects and challenges.
- Content includes social media postings, action alerts disseminated via E’blast, articles for magazines (digital & hard copy), workshops, etc.
- Provides ideas for new imagery and text for apparel, appeals and other information exchanges for purpose of engaging and informing billfish constituents.
- Assists supervisor by developing and improving campaigns for greater constituent engagement with TBF – digitally and traditionally
- Works with supervisor in developing policy positions, communicating TBF’s message and dissemination strategy This includes researching subject matter as needed.
- Assists in developing text to advance policy positions and strategies with constituents on a range of issues and subjects, including advocacy, education and research for social media and written text and evaluates responsiveness of strategies.
- Accompanies supervisory staff to meetings at which TBF’s positions and/or information sharing is requested.
- Cultivates relationships at tournaments, boat shows, special events, advisory committees and other gatherings to inform and grow support, membership and awareness of TBF’s mission and programs.
- Performs daily duties with discretion and independence under the guidance of supervisor.
DUTY STATION:
Incumbent’s duty station is at 5100 N. Federal Hwy, Suite 200, Ft. Lauderdale, and Fl 33308. Regular travel is required to off-site and in town locations, including some weekend hours, holiday and evening hours. Out of town travel often consists of multiple days to a week out of the office.
HOURS:
Forty hours a week in 8 hour daily increments between 8 am and 5:30 pm, subject to schedule changes depending on location and activity at which incumbent is representing TBF.
COMPENSATION:
The salary range begins at 33,000 – 38,000 per year, depending on incumbent’s skills and work experience(s).
