Program Duration: May 31, 2022 – August 19, 2022
INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO: NPR’s Development Division seeks a Donor Communications Intern to help create materials to engage public radio supporters. The intern will work closely with members of the Donor Communications team to write copy for proposals, reports, newsletters, invitations, and/or other donor outreach; produce various print and digital fundraising materials in line with NPR’s brand; and provide support for donor events as needed.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
The Donor Communications Intern’s primary job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Work with colleagues across the organization to source information for donor materials
- Draft content for donor reports, proposals, and/or stewardship materials
- Assist with the creation, distribution, and tracking of email marketing campaigns
- Provide support for graphic design projects, including editing and updating marketing materials and using designed templates to produce new content
- Assist with donor event planning and management as needed
WHO CAN APPLY?
- LOCATION: This internship has the flexibility to be fully remote or a hybrid version of remote and onsite at our Washington, D.C. location, based on the intern’s preference. Must be planning to work from the United States throughout the summer 2022 internship dates.
- EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Attention to detail
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and time management
- Ability to execute on multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Enthusiasm for public media, its mission and its programs
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience working with email marketing platforms, such as Mailchimp and Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Illustrator
- Copywriting
- Basic understanding of graphic design
- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS
- Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising
SCHEDULE
- 30-40 hours per week, M-F during standard business hours
