Program Duration: May 31, 2022 – August 19, 2022
It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders is a podcast and radio show heard weekly by more than one million people. Sam explores news and pop culture trends each week with experts and panelists and conducts long form interviews with actors, writers, and musicians. His curiosity and empathy have built a strong connection with listeners.
Interns are actively involved in the production of every episode. They pitch stories, conduct research, pre-interview guests, book interviews, and help with social media. They work alongside program staff and assist with program production.
We’re looking for interns who devour news and pop culture, and are always asking questions about the world. You should also be highly motivated and ready to work independently and as part of a team. Does this sound like you? Please apply!
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts research for news and feature interviews
- Books guests and arranges logistics
- Logs recordings of interviews
- Obtains audio and assists with basic production
- Assists social media efforts
- Attends editorial meeting and pitches story ideas
- Performs routine administrative tasks
WHO CAN APPLY?
- LOCATION: This internship has the flexibility to be onsite at our Washington D.C. or Los Angeles, CA offices, fully remote, and/or a hybrid version of the two based on the intern’s preference.
- EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Demonstrated interest in news and pop culture
- Deep curiosity, initiative, tenacity and attention to detail
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently and accurately under deadline pressure
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Newsroom experience
- Digital media skills, including proficiency in social media
SCHEDULE
- 30-40 hour per week around the intern’s schedule; Monday-Friday
