The Honors College Communications division is making an open call to students who are interested in doing a communication internship with us. We are seeking a student intern to assist the Honors College Social Media Officer in marketing and communications efforts. The Communications Intern will work independently and in a team environment to fulfill the Honors College goals and initiatives.
Responsibilities
· Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms
· Assist with photo/video editing
· Design event/program fliers, graphics and other marketing materials
· Assist in planning, writing and sending emails to the Honors College community
· Provide input for creative marketing strategies and social media campaigns
· Write and share stories of the Honors College community
· Ability to work in Honors College events when needed
· Update Honors College website with news stories
Qualifications
· Preferably majoring in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or experience in related field
· Understanding of the basic principles of public relations and/or marketing
· Proficiency in any video and photo editing program highly desired
· Knowledge of graphic design is a plus
· Self-starter, good time management, creative, with ability to communicate in a professional manner
· Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Student Learning Outcomes
1. Learn how to effectively create content for social media, websites and email distribution.
2. Develop an understanding of social media and communication best practices for a highly engaged academic organization.
3. Gain experience with industry standard software, like Canva, Hootsuite, Adobe Premiere and Photoshop.
The internship can start as soon as possible.
Expected work hours will be 10-15 hours per week.
The Honors College Social Media Officer will serve as the primary internship mentor and supervisor.
