Social Media Intern Duties and Responsibilities

 

Our Social Media Intern role will support the digital media staff to develop and implement outreach and promotional campaigns to solidify website effectiveness, boost brand engagement, and increase awareness for our clientele. The duties and responsibilities of a Social Media Intern include:

  • Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
  • Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote client interests on various social media websites
  • Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos, and press releases on social media and traditional news outlets 
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability
  • Maintain spreadsheets of client campaigns and record KPI’s and goals of each brand

Social Media Intern Skills and Qualifications

A successful Social Media Intern candidate will have diverse educational qualifications and technical skills to deliver on the job. These include: 

  • Working on a Bachelor’s degree in digital communications or related field such as advertising or Journalism
  • 2+ years’ experience in digital marketing/social media marketing 
  • Impeccable oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent internet research skills 
  • Mastery of the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snap and TikTok
  • Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
  • Experience with content management systems, word processor applications and image/video editing software

A Bit About You:

While we recognize this is an intern role, some background in marketing, data analysis, communications, journalism, or related field is desired. Genuine interest in digital marketing and a passion for the place of social media in this space. Excellent time management and analytical skills. Some experience with Excel-style spreadsheets or data management software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with attention to detail. And a deep willingness to learn new skills and techniques, as well as sharpen your existing knowledge and put it on display!
