Official Job Title: Communications Specialist (Digital Communications Specialist) – Office of Government Liaison and Public Relations (State Funded)
Description:
This is responsible public relations work focusing on digital communications for Web and social media and related support to the Director in a fast-paced public relations environment. Duties include developing Web and social media content, updating existing content, and creating new concepts and designs for digital media projects in accordance with the communications and outreach goals set by the Director; establishment and regular reporting of metrics to gauge the effectiveness of digital communications in reaching and engaging with the public. The Digital Communications Specialist supports the Director in day-to-day communications operations of the Office and may also provide support in media relations functions and some print communications as assigned by the Director. The Digital Communications Specialist must exercise considerable judgment and sensitivity in the application of public relations and professional business practices in a court environment and must have strong organizational and time-management skills to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously. Occasionally, urgent matters or special public relations initiatives will require working additional hours or working outside of regular business hours. The Digital Communications Specialist will help with general office duties as needed.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule – both remote and onsite – as outlined by existing circuit policies and procedures.
Applicants must include: a cover letter and resume, including a link to their creative portfolio containing at least 6-8 samples of their original Web and social media content as well as the social media handles used in this professional work. Include samples of professional social media metrics tracking and reporting. In lieu of a link, applicants may upload their portfolio as a file in addition to the cover letter and resume.

Applicants being potentially considered for an interview will be required to complete an onsite assessment before they are further considered for an interview. Completion of the pre-interview onsite assessment is required in order to be considered for this position.
Working Conditions:
Moderate noise; business office setting. Occasional travel to other courthouses and public relations-related locations within Miami-Dade County.
Physical Demands:
Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking and listening. Must be able to transfer up to 10 pounds.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in digital communications, public relations, communications, journalism, or a closely related field. All degrees must be from an accredited institution.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in writing, editing and crafting unique digital content (text, images, video); working with social media tools including publishers, aggregators and analytics; successfully communicating with an audience; developing and implementing digital communication strategies to achieve an organization’s goals and maintain a positive public image across all social media platforms, including but not limited to: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Experience in producing small video projects for digital media content is preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred – both oral and written fluency.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Creativity, ability to “think outside the box,” and a high level of attention to detail.
- Exceptional writer with a highly proficient knowledge of the English language, both verbal and written; ability to self-edit for spelling, grammar, syntax, tone and originality; ability to consistently produce error-free written content; ability to turn dry subject matter into engaging posts for Web and social media; and ability to convey information and concepts to audiences that may not be familiar with the subject matter.
- Ability to plan, schedule, create and publish content on the Web and social media platforms while maintaining a consistent presence (style, images, branding and tone) across all digital channels; and ability to create and maintain an optimal posting schedule based on Web and social media traffic and audience engagement metrics.
- Ability to measure and report on the performance of all digital content and assets against goals, identify trends and insights, and optimize digital content plans based on these insights.
- Familiar with the technicalities of all social media platforms, including but not limited to the platforms listed under Qualifications; and familiar with measurement tools and the creation of progress reports and insights.
- Interacts in a professional, respectful and courteous manner at all times, including under stressful situations; treats all persons with respect; works ethically and with integrity; and can uphold the organization’s values.

- Knowledge of and ability to use the Windows operating system, and knowledge of or willingness to learn the Mac operating system.
- Knowledge of and ability to use the Internet and Web content management systems, the Microsoft Office suite of applications, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications (specifically InDesign, Lightroom and Photoshop), and Hootsuite or similar social media management platforms.
- Knowledge of professional photography techniques and photo editing for content creation.
Responsibilities:
- Handles the design, production, scheduling, and release of Web and social media content and updates existing content as needed.
- Creates and maintains a content rollout calendar based on the organization’s short-term goals and long-term strategies; plans and executes the content calendar; ensures all digital content is approved and up to date; ensures links are working and captions are correct.
- Develops and executes approved plans to grow followers across all existing and future social media platforms.
- Monitors the court’s Web and social media platforms daily for comments and questions from the public; redirects them to the Public Relations Office or the appropriate court department, government or justice partner entity for follow-up and resolution.
- Creates new concepts and designs for digital media projects in accordance with the communications and outreach goals set by the Director.
- Handles photography and photo editing for content creation.
- Establishes and regularly reports on metrics to gauge the effectiveness of digital communications in reaching and engaging with the public.
- Manages multimedia libraries and archives.
- Supports the Director in day-to-day communications operations of the Office and may also provide support in media relations functions and some print communications as assigned by the Director.
- Produces the official portraits of judges and executive staff of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit for Web and social media.
- Assists the Director with general office duties as needed.
- Performs related work as required.
