Position Purpose

The Sleep Number summer Marketing Media intern will assist with work in marketing channels, including on ad platforms, media channels, content planning and other assigned duties. They will be responsible for implementing and continuously adjusting their team’s marketing tactics within their platform to help us drive strong performance. Ultimately, they will focus on driving strong business results through website and store traffic as well as will be assigned special projects throughout the 12-week internship experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Channel mastery: develops depth and competency in a specific marketing/media channel as well as a basic understanding of media ecosystems and KPIs, showing curiosity for comprehensive strategic vision.

Planning tasks

  • Write and complete briefs, working closely with applicable partners and Planner/Sr. Planner/Manager
  • Evaluate opportunities within channel and offer tactical recommendations and optimizations
  • Study demographic data and consumer profiles to identify and buy against desired target audiences within the specific media channel, including lifestyles and psychographics
  • Learn creative best practices and execution

In-platform/In-Channel

  • Assist in the planning and execution of a channel
  • Work in media planning platforms (e.g. Kenshoo, Google, Workfront, AD-ID, trafficking documents)
  • Participate and carry out key business enhancements in relation to tagging, trafficking, creative rotation, dynamic capabilities, third-party verification and compliance and all other ad ops related functions

Reporting, analytics, insights

  • Provide accurate data reports and proactively identify/pursue next steps in channel, collaborate on larger marketing/media plan adjustments in partnership with Planner/Sr. Planner/Manager

Budget Optimization

  • Will be introduced to and work with planning spreadsheets and monthly budget updates
  • Learn how to create test/learn plans and report out best practices within channel responsibility

Position Requirements

  • Junior or Senior college student working toward Bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications, analytics, economics or related fields
  • Interest in media, analytics and content planning
  • Two years of completed coursework by May 2023
