Summary

Position carries out assigned digital communications activities in the Public Affairs work function, including creating and updating internal and external communications for assigned MBA publications, social media channels, and initiatives. Under regular supervision, the position assists with weekly leadership newsletters, manages assigned pages on MBA’s website, and develops social media posts on MBA news articles and initiatives. Position establishes and maintains working relationships with Association leadership, members, and staff. Position is an individual contributor role.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Creates and manages content for the Association’s website and social media accounts.
  2. Assists in assembling, proofing, and deploying weekly newsletters and other communications to Association members on behalf of assigned Association groups. Edits incoming articles/digests from subject matter experts as necessary and assembles into newsletter via third-party email platform. 
  3. Helps Public Affairs team on day-to-day communications requests, such as writing and editing external and internal communications, press releases, scripting, video development/teleprompter, etc.
  4. Assists in various media relations functions supporting the Public Affairs team, including news monitoring, sending press releases/media advisories, registering press for MBA conferences and events, etc

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or a related field with a minimum of three years of prior relevant work experience in public relations or communications professional environment.

  • Requires excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with others in a creative team environment.
  • Requires strong writing, editing, and communications abilities.
  • Requires understanding of best practices for website content development and social media
  • Requires understanding of best practices for external and internal communications
  • Ability to create social media promotions
  • Requires excellent communications abilities and strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
