Kansas City Center for Inclusion provides an affirming and supportive space for queer community in Kansas City. We believe in empowering queer people to live more full and joyful lives. We uplift queer voices by providing educational trainings, programs, and resources to anyone seeking to ally themselves with our community. We provide one on one support over the phone, in person, and by email to any queer person in need of support. We also host peer-led support groups to connect LGBTQIA+ to sources of strength and comfort. We host a multitude of social programs and events to build community and connection amongst queer community members. We provide reliable resources that help queer people navigate life in Kansas City, such as recommendations for queer-affirming health care providers, housing services, churches, and hair salons. We aim to enrich and improve the lives of everyone in our LGBTQIA+ community. The Communications and Social Media Specialist will help us build our capacity to provide these services, helping us improve our organizational processes and communications.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will help KC Center for Inclusion (KCCI) grow in its capacity to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ people in the Kansas City area. Using industry best practices, they will create systems and processes to organize and streamline our communications. They will have an opportunity to develop their professional skills in a welcoming, community-oriented setting. The VISTA will work closely with our Director of Community Engagement, and will focus their work within five categories: 1. Professional Development 2. Development of a Marketing and Communications Strategy 3. Create templates for social media 4. Create templates for email communications series 5. Create organizational systems that will improve clarity and purpose of our operations
