Job Title: Excel Spring Associate Program – Communications (New York)

Our Associate program is a paid opportunity that allows participants to contribute to the organization’s success while at the same time applying learnings from the classroom. This semester we will continue with a hybrid program (subject to change based on company covid policies) and will offer each participant the opportunity to gain in-office experience for approximately 3-days a week.
Associate Expectations:
All Associates are expected to work 24-30 hours a week during the session. While each Associate will be working with a specific division, they will have the opportunity to learn about other areas within Excel, through lunch and learns held throughout the semester.
Important Dates:
Our Spring Program runs from Monday, February 6th, 2023, through end of June.
Office Hours:
- 9:00 am‐6:00 PM ET, Monday-Friday OR as agreed upon with advisor. Days in office must be coordinated with Advisor’s schedules.
Our Associates must:
- Be available to work 24-30 hours per week.
- Be available to report to the New York City Excel Office Location approximately 3-days a week.
- Be fully vaccinated as defined by the CDC.
- Have a senior standing in college (must have completed your junior year of undergrad)
OR
- Be enrolled in a graduate school
OR
- Have a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree.
Interview Process:
- Selected candidates will be scheduled for an interview after the January 3rd application cut-off date (or sooner).
- If selected, offers will be extended to candidates the week of January 16th.
- The program will begin on February 6th with Orientation at 12:00PM ET.
Social Media Associate Expectations:
- Assists the Social Media team with content creation, competitive channel monitoring and research projects including divisional highlights.
- Assists the Social Media team with the tracking of client coverage on Excel social to ensure full coverage of roster.
- Learns the importance of C.A.R.E. (consistency, authenticity, relevance and engagement.).
- Will learn how to run and execute a content calendar, to include:
- Identify key dates, holidays, birthdays, for MLB, PGA, NBA, NFL clients, teams and leagues
- Build new calendars
- <e> news distribution
- Create gfx for template items
- Will learn how to format content and photos to be published for approved stories and posts.
- Will develop skills needed to identify social media trends and opportunities.
- Will learn how to evaluate social media analytics
- Will develop skills needed to design social media specific graphics.
- Will have access to the Excel team for industry advice and learnings.
- May occasionally be assigned projects outside the Social Media/Communications group to gain exposure to other divisions within Excel.
The pay for this position is: $15.00 per hour. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
