The intern will work with the Sally’s Night team, including a curator and a communications expert, to research and share content on digital platforms like the Museum’s website and social media accounts.
This internship is a great opportunity for students with an interest in historical research, uplifting women’s stories, and digital and educational outreach.
The intern’s work on the Sally’s Night project will include:
- Identifying and researching historic and contemporary women and gender minorities in STEM to feature in Sally’s Night programming.
- Developing educational resources and activities for the Celebration Guide that relate to the personal stories and achievements of women and gender minorities in STEM.
- Writing copy for the Sally’s Night webpage, creating posts for social media, and creating content for other digital platforms.
- Assisting with outreach to Smithsonian Affiliates sites, facilitating collaboration through written correspondence, hosting meetings, and sharing resources.
- All of these tasks are critical to the execution of the first-ever national outreach for Sally’s Night. The intern will help us develop the intellectual content for Sally’s Night and support the execution of this national celebration.
The intern will have an opportunity to explore their individual interests within these tasks.
Hours: This is a part-time internship. Exact dates and hours worked are flexible. Interns should expect to work between 10 and 20 hours per week.
Stipend: Interns working 20 hours per week will receive a stipend of $300 per week. Stipends for interns working other hours will be calculated depending on number of hours worked.
