Directs, plans and organizes the public relations efforts to elevate the profiles of Northwell Health hospitals and other facilities externally. 

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Writes news releases, advisories and other communications in support of media outreach efforts.
  2. Supports PR staff in planning new conferences and other events in support of Northwell’s communications efforts.
  3. Conducts interviews and writes stories for internal and external newsletters and other publications.
  4. Coordinates photo assignments for newsletters and media outreach.
  5. Conducts research to update the PR Department’s media database.
  6. Posts and helps to manage content for the health system’s Newsroom.
  7. Performs related duties, as required.

Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in college majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field. 
  • Writing experience preferred.
  • Photo/Video production recording/editing skills. 
  • Proficient in social media.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Undergrad Junior; Undergrad Senior.
  • Currently enrolled in college in New York State majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field, required.
  • Someone entering their senior year of college with experience working at the school newspaper and other activities that involve writing and reporting. 
  • Prior administrative experience in a hospital/healthcare setting, preferred.

Schedule and Location:

Monday-Friday: 21 hours/per week. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9am-4pm, In-person

Duration: June 5 or 12th to Aug. 7 or 14th
