Job Overview: Norfolk Southern is seeking a highly motivated Corporate Communications Intern to join our team at our headquarters in Midtown Atlanta, GA. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or current student who is interested in pursuing a career in corporate communications. Norfolk Southern’s Corporate Communications team is a multi-discipline practice, consisting of Strategic Communications, Internal Communications, Brand Communications, Corporate Giving and Community Engagement. We are focused on reaching an internal audience of some 20,000 employees and external audiences through traditional media, advertising, and social media. The Corporate Communications intern will have the opportunity to support a variety of projects across the department through hands-on work and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of internal and external communication strategies.
- Support the development of external communication materials, including press releases, media advisories, and social media content.
- Collaborate with various departments to draft and distribute internal communication materials, including newsletters, emails, and presentations.
- Conduct research and analysis to support communication strategies and initiatives.
- Support the company’s commitment to the communities it serves through collaboration with the Corporate Giving and Community Engagement teams.
- Help to plan and execute special events and projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Pursuing or obtained a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and experience with social media management tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Compensation:
- Freshman (27 or fewer credits) – $2,948/month
- Sophomore (28 to 59 credits) – $3,293/month
- Junior (60 to 89 credits) – $3,553/month
- Senior (90 or more credits) – $3,763/month
- Graduate Student – $4,507/month
*Living stipend of $850/month is available to those who qualify.
