SPORTS MEDIA MAJOR – Coming Fall 2025
The Sports Media major, with an expected launch in Fall 2025, is a hands-on professional degree program that prepares students for careers in ever-changing world of multi-platform sports journalism. As a Sports Media student, you will learn by doing, gaining experience both in the classroom and at the fields of play. The South Florida region is a haven, after all, for college and professional sports, both on a national and international level, and with that type of volume comes a sports media presence that is far superior to most domestic markets. The Sports Media major will provide students of FIU’s Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media, as well as the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts, with a gateway into that industry, and offer an additional career path with local, national and international employment opportunities, all while maximizing the breadth of sports content available in and around Miami. In advance of the major’s launch, current students are enrolled in FIU’s Sports Media Certificate Program.
