Alexia Freeman started as a student at FIU and moved on to follow a career path in Higher Ed., after graduating from BU. She’s held career roles in Higher Ed. such as: Administrative Assistant, Faculty member, Sr. Coordinator, Student Advocate and Advisor for over 20 years in South Florida. She was Certified as a Victims Services Practitioner by the State of Florida Attorney General and as a Mediator while working as an advocate. She’s served/volunteered for years with community entities such as: the Roxcy Bolton Center, Feeding South Florida, Camillus House, Miami Rescue Mission, The Caring Place, and The Salvation Army. Alexia has also worked as a consultant with members of the well-known historical site of Greenwood/Black Wallstreet in Tulsa, Ok., during the summers of 2020-21. She joined FIU as an administrative and academic support personnel for the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media in the summer of 2023. She uses her experience and expertise in social/community services and higher education to coordinate and assist students with internships, career development, experimental learning programs, scholarships, and other services.

Raymond Elman

Raymond Elman is an artist, writer, publisher, and editor, who co-founded Provincetown Arts magazine in 1985, which is still being published as of 2025. His paintings have been widely exhibited and are included in numerous collections. His large-scale, mixed-media portraits of Pulitzer Prize recipients Stanley Kunitz, Jhumpa Lahiri, Alan Dugan, and 3-time U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky are in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and have been exhibited there. In 2018, Elman received an Ellies Award from Oolite Arts.. 27 of his large-scale, mixed-media portraits and related videos were exhibited at the Jewish Museum of Florida in Miami Beach, FIU from October 22, 2023, to April 1, 2024. Elman is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of ArtSpeak (2015), an arts publication platform that provides high-quality, in-depth insights into all arts disciplines. Joshua Shear

Joshua Shear serves as the multimedia producer for the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media. Before joining FIU in 2004, he worked in video and film production across the U.S., including St. Louis, Atlanta and Los Angeles. Eventually, he moved to Miami where he started his own business, shooting and editing promotional and corporate videos, legal videos, public service announcements, video news releases and short films. His clients have included The Miami Heat, BellSouth, Burger King and Homestead/Miami Speedway. Joshua is currently completing his BAS degree in Film, Television & Digital Production at Miami Dade College.
