Empowering the Next Generation of Women Leaders in Communication
The Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication serves as a thought-leadership center for issues that impact women.
After a decade of programming, the Kopenhaver Center has earned a reputation for creating opportunities through which future generations of female communicators can excel.
Nearly 30,000 participants have taken part in the professional development opportunities we offer. The center has the reach and the infrastructure to implement a wide variety of programs for all types of participants.

Our objective is to expand the number of communicators of who are ready to move into positions of responsibility and leadership both in our community and nationally.
The center’s programs support the development of leaders and entrepreneurs by providing opportunities for students, alumni, scholars, and professionals to participate in training that will enable them to become the visionaries of tomorrow in the communications professions.
The center leans in and embraces the use of technology in the profession to foster women’s entry into the digital world and the metaverse so they may meet challenges, solve problems, and design new ideas for an innovative future.

The Kopenhaver Center annually sponsors a national conference, the conference brings together outstanding women in all the fields of communication, to share their expertise.
Virtual Workshops
The Leadership Virtual Workshops and podcasts feature top national leaders in the field of communication who have spoken on topics related to the mission of the center. These virtual workshops can be accessed here at any time.
Leadership Boot Camp
The Leadership Boot Camp is an intensive training program designed to equip graduating students with the skills and knowledge needed to gain a competitive edge as they embark on their professional careers. Led by industry experts, this program focuses on developing key leadership competencies through interactive workshops and expert insights.
Women Faculty Moving Forward (WFMF) Workshop
The Women Faculty Moving Forward (WFMF) Workshop is a transformative program designed to empower tenure-track women faculty members in academia. Through personalized mentoring, robust networking opportunities, and strategic preparation for tenure, administration, or other leadership roles, this initiative equips participants to excel in their careers and break barriers in academic leadership.
