The Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication at Florida International University’s School of Communication, Architecture and the Arts invites you to become a sponsor for the center’s Fifth National Conference, presented virtually “Women in Communication: Securing the Future.”  This national one-day conference on October 7, 2021, will bring together outstanding women professionals from around the country to discuss and analyze a broad range of topics focused on the theme of “Women in Communication: “Securing the Future,” thought leaders in the communications industries from around the country will spend the morning discussing the status and role of women in communication and the challenges they are facing, including pathways that young women have to travel in order to succeed in their profession.

Speakers will also address the topic of “Securing the Future” and look ahead to opportunities for women in all fields of communications. The two-hour virtual conference will feature a keynote speaker, Marian Liu, Operations Editor of The Washington Post, and a Thought Leaders Panel of five amazing women from all aspects of the field. The conference will be live-streamed and available to view via Facebook live.

 

The Kopenhaver Center commenced operations in 2013 with the goals to:

  • Serve as a thought-leadership center for research and professional development for the next generation of women leaders in mass communication.
  • Mentor the next generation of young scholars and professionals as they build careers in mass communication.
  • Initiate programs for young, diverse women commencing careers in the communications industries in order to prepare them to enter and succeed in the workplace.
  • Recognize the achievements of female leaders in the communication industries and the academy.
  • Provide training programs centered around ensuring diversity and inclusion in the communications professions through embracing change, innovation, and entrepreneurialism in a variety of programs throughout the year.
