Managing Principal | Laura Bishop Communications, LLC

Driven by a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, Laura launched Laura Bishop Communications on July 1, 2011.
What started as a solo initiative has grown to include the LBC Crew, a dynamic, diverse and talented team that serves clients throughout the region, including school districts, nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses across over a half dozen industries, including banking, automotive, grocery and senior living. Laura believes the success of her clients and Crew both
depend on creating room for growth and opportunity, and she strives to provide that for everyone she works with.
Her work ethic and philanthropic commitment to her community earned her recognition as a 2020 Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal, one of her proudest personal achievements.

Talents and Expertise
Building enduring relationships and effectively identifying people’s strengths are just two reasons why Laura has been able to grow the practice so significantly. She also has leveraged her public relations and communications expertise, along with her education experience, to her board positions with the American Red Cross, Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation and Advisory Board for the Edelman College of Communications and Creative Arts at Rowan University. Laura brings her clients success because she is genuinely committed to their missions and goals. As an integral part of her clients’ teams and strategies, she offers a uniquely personal approach to meeting and exceeding goals.

While she specializes in planning and executing community and media relations campaigns, Laura is also experienced in:
Media relations, Community relations/constituent building, Communications campaign development and implementation, strategic communications planning, Issues and crisis communications strategy and counsel,  Board development, recruitment, and planning, Internal communications and speech writing.

Favorite Projects
Laura’s vast skill set allows her to make a substantial contribution to just about any project, but some of her favorite work has been that of bond referenda and, especially 2020, issues and crisis communication. Laura’s effective and objective messaging through referenda work has helped bolster schools and communities alike, and she feels so gratified in doing it. Bringing courage, calmness, honesty and integrity to a challenging situation is second nature to Laura, and she and the LBC Crew are recognized for their work in crisis situations.

Civic and Professional Engagement
Laura is active in non-profit and professional organizations. She is a member of the Board of Directors, American Red Cross, Southern NJ Chapter, and a member of the Rowan College of Communications and Creative Arts’ Alumni Advisory Board. She is also the Immediate Past President of the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO) Associate Business Members, which aims to be good business partners with the state’s school business administrators. In February 2020, she was re-elected to a second term as a Trustee of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation.

Outside the Office
Laura stays active and sets aside time for herself. She has done Pilates for nearly 20 years, walks several miles each day and loves a walk on the beach and a swim in the ocean. Renovating and decorating her 85-year-old duplex in Ocean City also brings her great joy.

Education
Laura attended Cook College, Rutgers University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in environmental studies.
