Courtney Hand

Courtney Hand is a graduating senior in the BFA Biomedical Art and Visualization program at Rowan University. Following graduation, she will continue her academic journey with a Master of Science in Engineering at Rowan University, beginning this summer. Courtney’s passion for blending art and science has been a lifelong pursuit, and she has found innovative ways to integrate these interests with emerging technologies to create assets for 3D modeling and virtual reality.

Throughout her academic career, Courtney has gained valuable experience through several internships in 3D modeling, such as collaborating with Rowan University’s MAVRC center, which creates immersive interactive experiences to further educational resources; Schreiber School of Veterinary Medicine, and the U.S. Military’s Picatinny Arsenal. Her contributions played a key role in transforming complex scientific and technological concepts into realistic, accessible visual representations.

In addition to her artistic and technical expertise, Courtney has demonstrated strong leadership skills at Rowan University. As the training lead and student art head for various 3D modeling internships, she has taken on a mentorship role, guiding her peers while fostering a collaborative, professional environment.

After graduation, Courtney is eager to use the skills that her internships have prepared her for to begin her thesis research at Rowan University. Her research will focus on the development of virtual reality environments for educational purposes. Her goal is to enhance how individuals interact with complex scenarios, providing a less stressful alternative to traditional, real-world training. She hopes to make a lasting impact in fields such as medical and military training by improving the efficacy of education through immersive, cutting-edge technology.
