🎉 Welcome Back!

Dear Students,

As we begin an exciting new year that is sure to challenge us like never before, I am more than ever emboldened by the creative and collaborative spirit that comes across in everything we do as a department. As design thinkers, we bring purpose and a focused commitment to landscape architecture, environmental, and urban design excellence. May 2021 give us an opportunity to rise to the occasion and reimagine our community, our region, our country, and our world as the places we aspire them to be.

Roberto Rovira, RLA, ASLA
Chair and Professor

Department of Landscape Architecture +
Environmental and Urban Design

Landscape Architecture prepares students for research and practice while focusing on the analysis, planning, design, and management of the natural and built environment of tropical and subtropical landscapes. Our goal is to educate individuals who can serve and lead the community in the enhancement of the quality of life through the meaningful, equitable, aesthetic, and sustainable design of the physical environment.

The MLA admits students as Freshmen, transfers (with an Associates degree), and graduate students.

The Master of Landscape Architecture design curriculum includes a number of study abroad options. Students may spend a semester at our campus in Genoa, Italy, and may attend our two-week study travel program at the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany. Our design studios frequently include a travel component, and in recent years students have traveled to Panama, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and New Mexico.
