The Landscape Design Unit is responsible for the design and construction oversight of landscape components on a wide range of transportation projects. The unit also is involved in the incorporation of special community features, pedestrian areas, and sustainable design elements into these projects.
Transportation Landscape Designers in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction perform design and construction related tasks under the direction of Landscape Architects. Transportation Landscape Designers complete site analysis, presentation, design, and contract development assignments for a wide range of transportation related projects. They also review work performed by others, including consultant work and contractor installations.
Transportation Landscape Designers receive training in department policy, practices, and procedures, as well as project design and management software, including the department’s standard CAD program, MicroStation. Training will also be provided in landscape design work relative to transportation projects in order to complete increasingly complex tasks independently.
