Merrick & Company is seeking an undergraduate or graduate Landscape Architecture student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2024 at our Charlotte, NC office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2024. This is an on-site position.
We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity from approximately September – November 2023. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews will take place in January/February 2024. Offers will be extended in March 2024. Timeframe subject to change.
Job Description
The summer internship will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of landscape architecture. The intern will be exposed to a variety of projects for both public and private clients in diverse geographic locations. Project experience will include site planning, detail site design, residential neighborhood design, Government related facilities design, and graphic support of on-going projects.
The position requires collaboration with other disciplines, the ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve.
Required Experience
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D Modeling Software are preferred.
- Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in graduate school.
- Must be pursuing a landscape architecture degree.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
- Requires the ability to work 40 hours per week and arrive at the office punctually each day.
- Intern will be responsible for securing a place to stay in Charlotte, NC area for the duration of the internship. They will also be responsible for their own transportation to and from the office.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship.
Physical Requirements
- Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
- Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
