Dean McMurry, DDes, RA, is a licensed architect, designer, researcher, and educator whose work explores the intersection of architecture, ecological systems, computational design, and digital fabrication. He earned his Doctor of Design and Master of Architecture degrees from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Memphis. An NSF CREST Fellow, his research focuses on coastal resilience and living infrastructure, with an emphasis on computational design, robotic fabrication, and additive manufacturing as tools for developing ecologically responsive design systems. At FIU, he has taught architecture and landscape architecture design studios and digital design courses since 2018. He is also Principal of McMurry & Arguello, a South Florida architecture and design practice, where research, fabrication, and professional practice inform an interdisciplinary approach to design.
