The FIU College of Architecture + The Arts | Miami Beach Urban Studios will be hosting a retrospective concert of the music of former FIU School of Music director and current MBUS composer in residence Orlando Jacinto Garcia featuring the FIU Ensemble in residence Amernet String Quartet, FIU faculty contrabassist Luis Gomez Imbert, and other friends. The concert will include music for soloists, electronics, video, string quartet, and several premieres. Signed copies of Garcia’s most recent solo CD Auschwitz (nunca se olvidarán) released on the Toccata Classics label will be available at the post concert reception. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go towards scholarships for FIU student composition students. The concert is free and open to the public. Reception starts at 6:30, concert at 7:30 with cd signing immediately following the concert.
