Panel Discussion On Paulo Werneck and Brazilian Architecture

Gaspar Saldanha, designer and grandson to Paulo Werneck, will present a talk on his grandfathers contributions to modernism in Brazil.  This will be followed by a panel discussion including Christian Larsen, Associate Curator at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and Eric Goldemberg, Associate Professor of Architecture at FIU, moderated by John Stuart, Associate Dean of CARTA and Executive Director of the Miami Beach Urban Studios.

Brazilian Muralist Paulo Werneck created mosaic murals that adorned modernist buildings from the 1940s well into the 70s. Werneck’s grandson, New York based fashion designer Gaspar Saldanha, has translated Werneck’s masterful archives into a collection of contemporary rugs for Kravet Carpet. The collection consists of seven designs, available in New Zealand wool or a combination of wool and viscose, with full custom capabilities in size and color.
