Flesh and Text: Investigations of the Figure and Words by Hazel Gil and Daniel Marosi

Hazel Gil and Daniel Marosi (current FIU MFA candidates)

Hazel and Daniel each favor the human figure as a main point of expression in their artworks. Flesh and Text features writings alongside the human form that redefines re-contextualizes the imagery. The exhibition balances bold and confident works, which span from paintings on canvas and paper, to drawings and mono-prints on unconventional surfaces. They are fused with biblical verses and references, stream-of-consciousness prose, and sly expressions, aimed to reveal both unique and universal experiences.
