POSTPONED: PUBLIC ART TALK by Nicolas Lobo2020-03-13T14:02:36-04:00
At FIU, we have temporarily postponed this event due to the coronavirus pandemic. This decision has been made from an abundance of caution with the health and well-being of our guests and community in mind. We hope to have a new date soon.

Art Talk by Nicolas Lobo

Main Gallery, 6:30-8:30

Organized by Tom Scicluna

Working across media, conceptual artist Nicolas Lobo produces sculptures, installations, videos, performances, and works on paper through which he aims to represent the unrepresentable. Radio waves, social networks, no-fly zones, sound, and cyberspace are among the immaterial elements he has translated into physical forms. He has used wooden rods to sculpt an electromagnetic field and crafted an actual (and subtly disproportionate) bench based on a Google SketchUp virtual bench. By making the unseen visible and the immaterial tangible, Lobo wants to alert viewers to the forces—both positive and destructive—that shape contemporary society.
