(b. 1987) G. Cole Miller is an artist and curator whose work is informed by processes of residual accumulation.  As a point of departure, and drawing upon lived experiences and family histories, the superimposition of information on top of information, and the privileging of logic and reason over traditional knowledge both inform and infuriate. Works crafted in fibers, ceramics, and mixed-media installation attempt to process the zones of subduction between cultures and bodies across time and place by interrogating material history, consequence, and the fluid instability of identity.  In 2014 Cole received his MFA from Florida International University.  His work resides in the permanent collection of the Frost Museum of Art in Miami, and he has participated in exhibitions at David Castillo Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, and Root Division in San Francisco, among others.  In 2017 he was awarded an Installation category prize at ArtFields in Lake City, SC.  Currently residing in Sumter, South Carolina, and serving as Curator and Assistant Director since 2016, Cole has facilitated more than thirty group and solo exhibitions with the Sumter County Gallery of Art.
