Zoom ID# 857 941 706

Liz Rodda is an Austin, TX-based artist and Associate Professor at Texas State University where she founded the Expanded Media Studio Art Area, dedicated to time-based and interdisciplinary practices. As an artist, Rodda uses video, sound, sculpture, and image making to build psychological tension, absurdity, and states of disassociation. The goal is to allow form to arise from meaning and vice versa. Thematically, she draws from the contradictions and irresolvable questions that come with living in America. For example, how can an individual succeed within a capitalist system while resisting the suffocating status quo? Is it possible to reframe impulsive behavior as responsible decision making? How can one be both sensitive and aggressive in making/thinking?
