The Unusual Suspects brings together fourteen remarkable artists whose work,
despite its excellence, remains largely unseen within Miami’s vibrant visual art
scene. Ranging across a variety of disciplines and materials, each of their
practices reflect deep craftsmanship, conceptual rigor, and singular vision.
Some have quietly honed their skills for years, while others create prolifically
despite remaining on the periphery of the art world’s spotlight. What they share
is a rare position: they are exceptional makers who, for various reasons, seldom
exhibit their work.
By exhibiting these “unusual suspects” together in one space, this show
challenges conventional narratives of artistic visibility and success. It offers a
glimpse into a hidden network of creative talent, revealing that Miami’s art scene
is still so much deeper, and complex than its most visible players suggest.
