FIU AND MIAMI DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TEAM UP FOR TIKKUN OLAM GLOBAL MAKEATHON AT MBUS
On April 2nd and 3rd at MBUS, the TOM: FIU Community brought together parents, teachers, administrators, children and FIU students, faculty, alumni and staff for a makeathon to develop and create new solutions for children in need.  Above, FIU Architecture alumna Ligia Filgueiras works with FIU doctoral students in Physical Therapy Rafael Suarez and Emily Aguilar, on a new innovation to help Miami-Dade County Public Schools middle-school student Omar Covarrubias easily reposition his iPad while in his wheelchair.
DOCTOR OF DESIGN STUDENTS EXPLORENEW WORLD CENTER’S BUILDING AND TECHNOLOGY
On Friday and over the weekend under the leadership of Dr. Neil Leach, MBUS hosted FIU’s DDes students for presentations and a series of working tours of Miami and Miami Beach.  MBUS board member, Anna Williams hosted the group at Miami’s Design District and former MBUS board member and New World Symphony VP for Business Development, Michelle Kucharczyck showed students around the architecture and technology of Frank Gehry’s NWC facility.
