Mayors' Institute on City Design 2016 East Regional Session Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the American Architectural Foundation and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, FIU | CARTA and the City of Miami Beach jointly hosted the 2016 East Regional Session of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design. On September 21-23, 2016, eight mayors from cities spanning the East coast of the United States, and eight national experts on urban design and the built environment, gathered for a critical conversation focused on strategies for the successful creation of urban coastal resilience, as well as the support of robust economic development through innovative partnerships with institutions of higher education.
