NPR’s Summer 2021 Internship Program will be fully remote.
Program Duration: June 1 – August 20, 2021
The Newsdesk team of journalists works fast and works hard to cover the news of the day. We write many of the most important stories as they unfold. Each Newsdesk reporter tackles an incredibly wide range of topics each week.
The intern will work with staff reporters as well as routinely file their own stories for NPR’s website.
Experienced editors will review your work on a daily basis. And the intern will be assigned a newsroom mentor.
This internship comes with the opportunity to work on covering the biggest stories of the day. We are looking for a student journalist with a strong desire to make reporting their career.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
WHO CAN APPLY?
- LOCATION: Must be planning to work from the United States and authorized to work in the United States throughout the Summer 2021 internship dates.
- EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- The applicant must submit news clippings that demonstrate the ability to cover a wide range of stories
- Fact-checking
- The ability to identify and pitch stories for coverage that same day
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates encouraged to apply
