Description:

The Teaching Assistant is a part-time position (up to 15 hours/week) who performs a wide range of duties in support of the Achieve Miami Summer Music Program, including, but not limited to the following:

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Tracks and communicates student’s musical progress
  • Assists in building the music skills of program managers and teaching assistants to leverage these abilities towards increasing (elementary) student progress and musical proficiency
  • Uses checks for understanding to monitor student progress.
  • Increases their skills in music and ability to assist our elementary students musically through observing, receiving feedback from and working directly with our music educators on a consistent basis.
  • Coordinates with Lead Music Educators on student recruitment plans, using outreach, technology, tools and material to represent the organization well and meet recruitment goals

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED. A bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required.
  • Recommendation reference letter.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience engaging, instructing, and/or supervising elementary students in a community or school setting in music instruction. 
  • Familiar with music notation, rhythmic values. Knowing basic piano, voice, percussion is a plus.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision due to the virtual operations of the organization.
  • Access to computer, telephone and consistent internet to accommodate business correspondence.

Compensation:

Teaching assistants will be paid $20 an hour. Week 1 will be lesson planning and team building with the music teachers and staff. Week 2 – 6 will be teaching weeks. Teaching assistants should plan to work 15 hours a week for the 6 weeks. Work schedule will take place from 6/14/2021 – 7/23/2021. The daily summer work hours are 12:30pm – 3:30pm, Monday-Thursday and 8:30am – 10:30am on Friday
