This is an immersive, all-in, all-hands-on deck experience working at the Institute and includes involvement in nearly every aspect of our operations during the six-week summer program. Staff internships present an excellent opportunity for students with musical backgrounds interested in arts management to broaden their experience.
- Online Training: 6/18/22 – 6/20/22
- Staff Arrival Date: 6/21/22
- In-Person Training: 6/22/22 – 6/23/22
- Summer Festival: 6/24/22 – 8/7/22
- Staff Departure Date: 8/8/22
The Festival Intern will work in the Institute’s administrative offices & teaching facilities and, as such, is expected to dress in appropriate attire. Ripped jeans, mini skirts, halter-tops, tank tops, shorts, and t-shirts with graphics are discouraged during business hours and concerts.
Requirements for the Festival Intern position are as follows:
- A high school diploma is required, current enrollment in bachelor’s degree in music performance, music education, or arts administration is preferred
- Knowledge or experience in classical music
- Strong administrative skills and familiarity with GSuite applications
- Responsive and attentive to communications during expanded business hours (8:00 – 22:00)
- Ability to healthily cope with stressful and demanding situations
- A commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion as they relate to the Heifetz Institute and its community
- Adheres to the Heifetz Institute policies and procedures in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the program
- Proof of up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19 with an FDA approved or authorized vaccine
Responsibilities of the Festival Intern are as follows:
- Work closely with the Director of Operations and Accounts & Logistics Manager in managing the day-to-day needs the Institute
- Maintain office hours during the week
- Help with fielding student questions and connecting them to the appropriate staff members
- Provide administrative assistance to team members, as needed
- Staff concerts, concert receptions, and special events, as needed
Compensation
Compensation is $1,500 for the contracted period. Housing and meals will be provided for the duration of the contract. Employment is contingent upon the signing of a contract by the Festival Intern and the Heifetz Institute, as well as passing a background check. The Festival Intern will be responsible for their own transportation costs to and from the Institute.
