The Department of Theatre & Dance and The Department of Music & Musical Theatre of the State University of New York College at Geneseo employs faculty members with diverse academic specialties, allowing students the opportunity to learn about various areas of Theatre from a variety of methodological perspectives. We seek a colleague to teach and design for performance with expertise in the area of Scene Design for a production season that consist of two main stage musical productions, one to two theatre productions. Additionally, one page-to-stage musical, two limited design dance concerts and other occasional smaller theatre projects will occur. 

The Department of Theatre & Dance and The Department of Music & Musical Theatre utilize a 389-seat Proscenium Theatre, a 225-seat Recital Hall, and both a 130-seat Black Box and “White Box” theatre. The Proscenium and Black Box both serve as learning laboratories as part of an undergraduate liberal arts BA theatre program.

 

We invite applications for a Full-Time Lecturer to begin in August 2022. The initial appointment is for one year, with possibility of reappointment for additional years. An MFA is preferred (completed MA considered) by the position start date is required. 

Teaching responsibilities for the full time fixed-term, academic year’s position include teaching two three-credit courses per semester. Courses include but are not limited to fundamentals of design, scene design, scene painting, play analysis, theatre management and/or intro to technical theatre and stagecraft. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scenic design, shop supervision, props supervision and design, and painting for productions. Experience in lighting design desired.
