Program Duration: May 31, 2022 – August 19, 2022
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research potential NPR sources and build source profile pages
- Help newsroom editors and producers as requested on sourcing for daily news
- Craft weekly email newsletter for NPR and Member stations featuring the Source of the Week
- Use social media to promote Source of the Week and advocate for greater diversity of sourcing in journalism
- Assist Training team in selected, organization-wide programs
- Maintain and update the 400+ profiles in the database
WHO CAN APPLY?
- LOCATION: This internship has the flexibility to be onsite at our Washington, D.C., office, fully remote, and/or a hybrid version of the two based on the intern’s preference.
- EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong social media skills
- A passion for news and an interest in matters of race, ethnicity and culture
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Basic web production
- Basic photo editing
- AP style
- Copyediting and fact-checking
- Basic audio editing
SCHEDULE
- 40 hours per week on weekdays, with some flexibility
