Position Summary:
This is an exciting Part-Time (temporary) opportunity with the Parks & Recreation Department Summer Camp Program to show off your skills as a Summer Camp Counselor. Be a part of a summer of fun for the youth of our community. This summer position is part-time and offers a fun and engaging work environment! Pay ranges from $14.32 – $21.48 based on experience. Applicants must be 18+.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the implementation of different activities to include sports, team games, arts and crafts, music and life skills
- Assist Site Supervisor(s) with providing guidance and coaching to the summer camp children
- Ensure that your supervisor is kept up to date, on all activities and informed of any related issues
- Performs maintenance (i.e. garbage disposal or cleaning of facility), as needed
- Assist with the tracking of the campers’ attendance
What’s required: (Minimum Requirements)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be available and able to submit fingerprints to obtain DCF clearance within 30 days prior to the start of scheduled 2022 Summer Camp
- Minimum of six (6) months experience supervising children required either in a summer camp, daycare/after-school care, or school setting
- Must attend mandatory staff meeting orientation prior to the start of 2022 Summer Camp (date & time to be provided)
- Must be able to work within the designated camp scheduled hours with no special exceptions (no leaves during 9-week summer camp period)
What’s preferred: (Desired Requirements)
- Currently possess valid CPR certification
- Minimum of one (1) year experience supervising children required either in a summer camp, daycare/after-school care, or school setting
