All teachers need to be Texas state certified and live within the state of Texas.

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

  • Completed a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in your area of instruction

Experience:

  • Experience with mastery-based or individualized learning approaches to student education (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience in a Texas Public School
  • 1-3 years of virtual teaching experience (Preferred)
  • Have two or more years of documented experience teaching online courses for students in Grades 3-12, AND successfully completed continuing professional development specific to online learning every three years (Preferred)

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Take ownership of the knowledge of students and commit to stretching students’ cognitive capacities
  • Use accomplished pedagogical expertise to execute lessons aligned to state standards while relating to and anticipating student needs through progress monitoring
  • Use differentiate instruction to personalize learning and proactively minimize confusion or disengagement
  • Deliver instruction to generate further student inquiry to promote problem-solving, real-world application, and high order thinking
  • Establish an overwhelmingly positive class climate so regardless of what a student may be dealing with personally, your classroom is an emotional and social oasis
  • Utilize analytical and reflective method for formal and informal student data
  • Display mutual respect with students while maintaining an emotionally safe and supportive learning environment
  • Maintain knowledge of the accommodations and modifications to be implemented in an IEP or 504 plan
  • Implement any accommodations and modifications through the development of appropriate assignments and assessments
  • Partner with special educators to determine the appropriate implementation of accommodations and modifications for specific content standards
  • Comply with the Texas Educator Code of Ethics, the ResponsiveEd Employee Handbook, the ResponsiveEd Student-Parent Handbook, administrative directives and other manuals and procedures documents
  • Serve as a test administrator during all state testing examination windows and district assessment testing as needed; which may require overnight travel. More information listed under Physical / Environmental Factors
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • General Office Equipment that includes a computer, copy machine, scanner, etc.
  • Various applications that include, but are not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, G-Mail,Study Island, eSped, Buzz, Google Drive Applications, Blackboard, Zoom Web Conferencing, USA Test Prep, etc.

Occasional district and statewide travel does occur and is part of this position. District and federal guidelines are followed for travel expenses.

 

Professional Development:

 

Virtual staff is required to attend in-person professional development prior to the school year starting. In-person trainings may also be required throughout the school year.

 

State Assessments:

 

During the STAAR and TELPAS state assessment windows, including the summer STAAR session, virtual staff on the aforementioned weeks will proctor/administer student assessments at one of the district’s testing centers. Virtual staff may be assigned to proctor at a site near their residence or at a location that requires intrastate travel and possibly overnight lodging. (STAAR and TELPAS dates are contingent to change pending the direction of the TEA.)
