The Job
Overview of the internships
We have multiple Artist/Animator internship opportunities available. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for all internship opportunities within this area. These internships will be located in the Kirkland, WA area. The selected interns will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern managers in office schedule.
This could include, but is not limited to:
- Presentation (Cinematic) Intern – Monolith Productions, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a student Artist/Animator to help the Presentation (Cinematic) team in creating content for the upcoming Wonder Woman game. This person will work under the mentorship of an experienced Presentation (Cinematic) team to create high quality visual storytelling cinematics for the game, help with scene creation, camera/ character animation and if able, occasionally assist in the mocap studio.
- Gameplay Animation Intern – Monolith Productions, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a student Artist/Animator to help the gameplay animation team in creating content for the upcoming Wonder Woman game. This person will work under the mentorship of an experienced animation team to create high quality animation for the game, help with departmental documentation and organization and if able, occasionally assist in the mocap studio.
The Daily
Duties could include:
- Animating realistic CGI cameras and motion capture performance data in Maya and/ or Motion Builder. This includes repurposing the studio’s vast existing animation library and animating on top of new Motion Capture data
- Creating Storyboards (2D or 3D) and Pre-Visualization for motion capture shoots or in-engine testing
- Exporting and viewing animation data in our proprietary engine and tools
- Bug fixing and troubleshooting
- Reading and reviewing teams existing on-boarding documentation and making improvements or additions as you progress through the pipeline
- If able, assist the mocap studio engineer with occasional stage maintenance such as camera adjustment, props and test captures
The Essentials
- A Demo Reel or Portfolio demonstrating the fundamentals of animation and/or visual story telling (dialogue or action) through Storyboards, Pre-Visualization, CGI Cameras and/or Character Animation
- Ability to create believable character performances demonstrating weight, physics, and human body mechanics
- Proficiency in the 3d animation software Maya and/or Motion Builder
- Excitement to learn new programs, pipelines, and processes, both proactively on their own and under the mentorship of others
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
- Must be actively enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
- Must be a rising Junior, Senior or Graduate Student (18 years or older)
- Must be in academic good standing (2.8 or above GPA)
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States. U.S. International students must hold an F1 Visa to be considered
The Nice To Haves
- Skills in scripting, rigging, skinning, coding, or tool creation, particularly in Maya
- Experience creating and integrating animations into a gameplay engine like Unity or Unreal
- Experience working with production software like Jira, Perforce, Confluence
- Experience in Motion Capture pipelines such as Xsens, OptiTrack or Motion Analysis
- Acting and/or combat backgrounds, and desire to act in motion capture shoots

And finally, what to know before applying:
- The duration of the program is 10-12 weeks dependent on the student’s availability based on semester schedule
- Program date options:
- Start Date: June 5th or June 12th
- End Date: August 18th or August 25th
- Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
- Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
- Interviewing will take place from February through mid-April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns, $25 per hour USD for graduate level interns.
