Our organization is currently seeking to hire a full-time dance teacher, who meets the Florida Department of Education’s minimum requirements to be a dance educator in Miami-Dade County. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s or higher degree with an undergraduate or graduate major in dance or dance education. As a dance teacher, your duties will include:
- Developing lesson plans and curricula for students of all ages and skill levels
- Helping students develop connections between dance and healthful living
- Creating choreography for yearly shows
- Teaching dance techniques and styles, providing corrective feedback to students, and encouraging them to achieve their goals
- Preparing and coordinating dance performances, including choreography, costumes, and music selection
- Evaluating students’ progress and communicating with parents or guardians as necessary
- Ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment, including proper equipment, facility cleanliness, and adherence to safety guidelines
- Managing administrative tasks such as scheduling, handling payments, and promoting classes
- Staying up to date with current dance trends and attending professional development opportunities as needed in Miami-Dade.
- Collaborating with other teachers to prepare for performances at school events and assemblies.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in one or more dance styles, such as ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, tap, or ballroom. They should hold a valid certification as a dance teacher in the state of Florida and meet the Florida Department of Education’s minimum requirements to be a dance teacher in Miami-Dade County. However, we are open to both new and experienced teachers who are passionate about dance instruction. Excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to work with students of varying ages and skill levels are also essential qualities.
