Because we know it can be challenging to balance coursework and internship commitments, we offer interns paid time off for mental health, school exams, and personal holidays.
To meet students where they are, we will host internships in both a virtual and in-person format. Opportunities listed will either be in-person based on the location mentioned or virtual, depending on business needs. Some of our internship opportunities that begin in September will continue through the Academic Year and end in April. Job Description
Academic Year Internship Program:
- Applications Close: June 9, 2023 at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible – don’t delay!
- Program Dates: September 18, 2023 – April 19, 2024
- Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
- Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Functions: This team oversees the Company’s volunteering and social impact efforts. This is a great opportunity for a candidate interested in the intersection of business and social purpose, looking to deepen their understanding of employee relations and volunteering, philanthropy and cause marketing, while building skills and gaining experience as a researcher, event planner, marketer and communicator.
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Corporate Functions: NBCUniversal’s Corporate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team works closely with Human Resources, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Communications and enterprise-wise business units to further the company’s inclusion initiatives. Interns will have the opportunity to regularly communicate and maintain relationships with 100+ ERG leaders and diversity practitioners across the company. Interns will contribute to social media strategy and generate custom content for NBCU’s social media channels.
- Human Resources, Ad Sales: The Human Resources Intern will support the Ad Sales HR team in all facets of HR, including talent Management, learning & development, DE&I, onboarding, employee engagement, and interfacing with internal business partners across the organization. The HR intern will work with the team to find solutions to employee questions and concerns, assist the team with completing workflow forms, and work on strategic HR projects and initiatives.
- Talent Development, Corporate Functions: Join NBCUniversal’s enterprise-wide Global Talent Development team. You’ll be part of the global team that helps bring our all company cross-business portfolio talent development strategy, employee engagement, and learning and development experiences at NBCUniversal’s corporate university, the Talent Lab, to life. In this Internship you will perform a broad range of support activities aligned to the research, design and implementation of talent and organizational development processes and practices at each stage of our employee-life cycle and talent management experience.
- Talent & Org. Development, O&T: The Operations & Technology talent team at NBCUniversal is looking for a creative, high-energy Intern. This role is right for you if you aspire to be an Organizational Development Specialist or HR Business Partner and want a broad internship experience to uncover your ideal path. We support the Operations & Technology business unit across NBCU with a population of approximately 4,000 employees globally. What’s super cool about our client group is that they power major NBCU events like the Olympics, National Elections, popular TV shows, revered News programs, and much more. In this internship, you’ll assist in the management of early career pipelines like our Media Tech Internship and Media Tech Associate Rotational Programs. You’ll learn how we forecast and plan a recruiting season, curate a cohort experience, plus serve as HR contacts for the group. On the Org Development side, you’ll gain exposure to our broader talent management strategy and practices inclusive of survey development, metrics reporting & analysis, Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and other employee engagement projects.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program.
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
Desired Characteristics:
- Students with class standing of junior or above preferred for most roles.
- Graduate students preferred for Talent Development, Corporate Functions role.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Strong interest in the media industry.
- Commitment to building an inclusive work environment.
- Ability to multitask and highly organized.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Previous internship experience and on-campus involvement.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, Communications, or related field.
The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.00.
The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $17.00-$25.00.
