Now celebrating a 48-year history, the Atlanta Film Society (ATLFS) is one of the oldest and largest organizations dedicated to the promotion and education of film in the United States. ATLFS aims to unite the Atlanta community by serving artists in creative growth and inspiring audiences through the power of the moving image. Enriching the community through screenings, classes, workshops, and other events year-round, the chief operation of ATLFS is the Atlanta Film Festival.

One of only two dozen Academy Award-qualifying events in the country, the Atlanta Film Festival showcases over 150 films annually to over 28,000 attendees across a ten-day event each spring. Each year, the Atlanta Film Festival receives over 9,000 submissions from 120 countries across the globe.

Our Business Department is crucial in making sure we achieve our funding goals by utilizing various channels to promote awareness: web, social media, and email campaigns. As the Business Associate, you will be involved in the research, coordination, and execution of fundraising campaigns, which include (but are not limited to) Corporate Sponsorship, Government Grants, Donor Relations, and more! Interns will play a part in building & maintaining a relationship with our biggest funders. Thus, we require only serious and professional candidates to apply, as you will be a direct representation of our organization and brand. The schedule is flexible, but interns are expected to be available online twice a week for 4 hours each day. Upon completion, students will gain hands-on experience with the techniques needed to research, develop, and execute fundraising strategies. Additionally, students will gain greater insight as to how their role helps play into the overall financial plan for an organization. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Managing Director & Development Manager research sponsorship leads
  • Research potential grant opportunities
  • Collect data on the impact of programs for grants
  • Assist Managing Director and development Manager with grant reporting
  • Coordinate the delivery of sponsor benefits
  • Assist in the auditing and maintenance of Salesforce records
  • Research potential donor leads
  • Draft sponsor & donor communication documents
  • Create post-sponsorship wrap reports
  • Do market research into other art nonprofits and their programs

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college/university. 
  • Must receive college credit for the internship.
  • Must be seeking a degree in Economics, Business, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Arts Management, Public Service, Accounting, or similar.
  • At a minimum, must be in junior year and above, or at graduate level.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours a week.
  • Must be available to meet twice a week.
  • Must have reliable transportation. 
  • Experience and/or a desire to work in a high-energy group setting, and a drive to do what it takes to get the job done well.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.
  • Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides follow-through on areas of responsibility.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills required including proficiency with Word and Excel; data entry experience.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills a must.
  • Positive, self-motivated, and quick learning performer highly valued.
  • This position requires confidentiality, and a sense of humor is a must

 

Preferred Skills

  • Interest in finance preferred, (but not required).
