WTTG/WDCA – Traffic Reporter/Reporter (Regular Full-Time)
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus has a remarkable opportunity for an experienced journalist to join our award-winning morning team! Airing 90+ hours of original programming a week, Fox 5 is the #1 local news station in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
We are looking for a creative, forward-thinking individual with an engaging personality to report on daily traffic and general assignment news. Candidates must be comfortable using various platforms to engage viewers and deliver timely and accurate traffic and local news reports. Responsibilities: Report live. Write, edit, and produce compelling traffic and news reports. Will present traffic reports multiple times an hour utilizing mapping equipment, DOT cameras, police reports, and social media. Will be part of an ensemble morning anchor team that is live for an extended period. Research and generate story ideas to maximize news content. Update traffic information on multiple platforms and maintain a high profile/engagement on social media to attract, inform, and engage the audience. Conduct live interviews and report on subjects both traffic and non-traffic related. Must be able to ad-lib effectively. Work with the assignment desk, producers, editors, photographers, and executive producers to create captivating content (live/recorded) to increase viewership and grow ratings. Will shoot promotional content and make public appearances on behalf of the Station. Deadline driven. Social media enthusiast. Friendly, respectful, and collaborative.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field required. 3+ years of live anchor news experience in a medium to large market. Must have excellent live reporting, writing, and storytelling skills. Exceptional creativity and ability to find new ways to present information. Work accurately and efficiently within tight time constraints. Recent experience and proficiency with newsroom computers, live news technology, and related software required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high professionalism. High standard of quality and attention to detail. Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid driver’s license and be able to drive. Local/national travel, weekends, holidays, and varied hours required.
