Your Worlds Ahead experience begins here!
In collaboration with various academic units at FIU and an impressive array of international partners, the School of Music supports and promotes a growing number of study abroad programs.
These short-term programs afford students the opportunity to earn academic credit through a personally and intellectually enriching experience. Past participants have expressed how living and studying in a foreign country not only deepened their understanding of another culture, language, and society, but offered the opportunity to develop valuable transnational competencies.
Study Abroad Spring 2017 – FIU Sings in Cuba!
The FIU Concert Choir and Music Business students participated in their first performance tour/study abroad experience to Havana, Cuba during March 4 – 10, 2017!
They were invited by composer Martin Palmeri (who had previously visited the FIU School of Music) to perform Misa a Tango for its 20th anniversary along with the Schola Cantorum Coralina and the Sinfonia Orquesta Nacional de Cuba in historical locations such as La Basilica Menor de San Fransisco de Asis, La Catedral de San Cristobal, and El Teatro Nacional de Cuba. The choir also visited El Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana for a day of music education.
The students learned performance practice, rehearsal techniques, and how music business is handled on concert tour in other parts of the country.
