Dr. Alicia Romero-Sardiñas is a visiting professor of music education at Florida International University. She is a first-generation American daughter of immigrant Cuban parents. She holds degrees in music education from Florida International University (B.S.) and Florida State University (MMed). She also holds a degree in Curriculum and Instruction (PhD) from Florida International University.
Dr. Romero-Sardiñas’ research aims to give a voice to the choral music educator and recognize the definitions of music literacy that abound amongst choral directors. She has presented at Florida Music Educator Association Annual conference and has conducted the Middle Superintendent Honor Choir in 2006 and the Elementary Superintendent Honor Choir in 2022. Dr. Romero-Sardiñas is a board member for the Florida Vocal Association where she has developed programs to encourage and develop student composers and is a sought-out adjudicator for events throughout the state. Prior to this, she was a high school choral director for 20 years in traditional public high schools.
