We offer students the opportunity to study and perform the world’s greatest music with distinguished artist/faculty in one of the finest concert venues in the region. We are a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music and offer a conservatory-style education in the atmosphere of a Research I University.

How to Apply

UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION

Step 1

Apply for Admission to Florida International University:

Step 2

Apply to the FIU School of Music Through GetAcceptd:

  • Upload your prescreening materials. If you pass this pre-screening process you will be invited to a live audition.
  • Organized auditions are held three times per year, but can be scheduled at other times throughout the year upon request. Upcoming audition dates include: Saturday, November 21, 2020 | Friday, February 5, 2021 | Friday, March 12, 2021

Theory and history placement tests will be given during organized audition days.

Step 3

Apply for Scholarships:

  • There are a number of University-wide and SOM scholarships available to students. Anyone interested in receiving university-wide scholarships, federal grants, work study, or loans must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Visit the Financial Aid webpage for more information.
  • Applicants who wish to be considered for University merit-based scholarships need to be admitted to FIU by November 1, 2019 (apply by Oct. 15 to meet this deadline)
  • Visit the SOM Scholarships Page for detailed descriptions of available SOM scholarships and access to the online application. Students must have a 3.0 GPA to be considered.

  • Complete your GetAcceptd submission application to the School of Music. If you pass this pre-screening process you will be invited to a live audition.

A Minor in Music is available to non-majors who wish to continue formalized study in music and build music into their lives and deepen their knowledge and musical experiences.
