Director’s Message

Welcome to the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts!

The Wertheim is an extraordinary place in an extraordinary city where students and faculty participate in a dynamic culture of music. An intimate school, we offer individualized training to 220 undergraduate and graduate students in a nurturing atmosphere that allows for each student’s individual artistry and intellect to develop and blossom. We boast an exceptional world-renowned faculty of teaching artists and scholars who perform, educate, tour, record, publish, compose, and present scholarly work locally, nationally, and internationally.

Students here participate in our outstanding performing ensembles. The more than 100 performances annually include orchestral, wind, jazz, vocal, choral, and chamber music concerts all performed in the beautiful Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center at Florida International University’s Modesto Maidique Campus as well as throughout the community.

Florida International University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music since 1996 and offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in performance, music business, music composition, music education, and music technology. I hope you will consider The Wertheim as a place where your talents can be nurtured and a place where you can prepare yourself as a 21st-century musician!

I invite you to glance at our website and learn more about the exciting programs we offer with a world-class faculty in an exciting city full of arts & culture!
